The Basics of Roulete

The game of roullete begins when the croupier throws a ball into a spinning roulette wheel. Players continue making their bets until the croupier announces, “No more bets!”

Each player gives the dealer money in whatever denomination they wish to designate. The dealer will then give them coloured chips valued at that amount.

Variations

While the rules of roulette remain the same no matter which version you play, some variations offer different payouts and special betting rules. For example, Double Ball roulette from IGT uses the same layout as European Roulette but has two balls instead of one. This variation also has lower payouts than the standard versions of roulette. Another variation is Lighting Roulette from Evolution Gaming, which offers high payouts of up to 500x the amount of your bet. Other roulette games with higher payouts include Triple Bonus Spin Roulette from IGT, which pays 1:12,000 for a straight bonus win. These variations are best for experienced players.

Origins

It’s difficult to pin down the exact origins of roulette. Some say that it was invented by 17th-century French mathematician Blaise Pascal as part of his failed attempt to create a perpetual motion machine. Others say it was derived from an earlier game called biribi, which involved betting on a wheel that had either odd or even numbers. In reality, roulette took shape as it developed and gained traction in the gambling houses of Paris over the course of the 18th century.

As more Europeans migrated to America, they brought with them some of their favorite gambling games. Roulette was among these, and it’s believed that the Blanc brothers, who ran Monte Carlo in 1860, invented a single-zero variant of the game. It became known as European roulette, and it’s this version of the game that was adopted by casinos around the world.
